• “Now. If you need to get out of the bed just ask me and I’ll help you. You’re suppose to stay off your feet for a while because of the few fractures you sustained. So I’ll help you when you need it.”
• I know I’m giving him an annoying look right now. But I don’t care. I’m not the type to sit in bed all day. “Mason. I can’t sit here all day. I’ll go mad! And who the hells going to cook for you? I haven’t seen you once cook. Can you? And what am I supposed to do here all day by myself. I’ll go crazy with boredom. No one to talk to. Nothing to do.”
• He sighs. And then points at a desk I didn’t see last time I was in here. But maybe I didn’t notice. I was preoccupied. “I will be here with you! I’ll work from here till you’re better and can be on your feet. If you want to go somewhere. I’ll take you. As for food. I get someone to cook for the time being or for the rest of our marriage. I don’t care. Anything you’re concerned with is nothing that can’t be fixed. You can watch some tv. There’s one right there.” As he points to one mounted on the wall across from the bed. “And if you’re bored enough…” his voice drifts as he walks over to a small box and brings it next to me. “My mother brought a box of romance novels that you could read to pass the time.”
