Chapter 98 That’s Good
- It was 10.15PM when the lengthy business negotiation finally ended. Christopher took out his phone as soon as he walked out of the conference room; he was aware of it when Diane had called him just now, but he happened to be discussing a crucial part of his collaboration with the client right then. Since he had no time to get distracted, he let Linda answer the call instead.
- Now that the conference had ended, he phoned Diane back, but she hung up on him after the phone rang twice. Is she asleep? Puzzled, he turned his head and asked Linda, “What did she say just now?”
- Naturally, Linda knew that he was asking about Diane. She immediately replied, “Miss Cornell didn’t say anything. She simply asked when you’d be finishing your meeting, and I told her it would take a while longer. I asked if she had something urgent to talk about and told her that I could pass it on to you, but she said nothing.”
