Chapter 494 She Still Cares
- Diane held the bowl in one hand and scooped a spoonful of soup with the other. She blew on the soup to cool it down before sending it to Christopher's lips. "Watch out. I'm not sure if it's hot," she uttered. She had cooled the soup down just enough so that it still felt warm in his mouth. "It's good," he replied. His good mood made the soup taste even better than it usually did. The taste reminded him of her.
- She was pleased to hear that he finally had the appetite to eat something. The worry on her face finally dissipated a little as she spread her lips into a smile. "That's great. After finishing this bowl of soup, you should get some sleep. Your wounds would probably heal a little faster if you didn't worry so much about everything." The woman continued nagging as she fed him the soup. He smiled and listened to her talk without interrupting her at all. He simply parted his lips to eat whenever the spoon was brought to him. After finishing the whole bowl, she put it aside before feeling his forehead again.
- "It feels like your temperature went down a little." She compared it to the warmth of her forehead while mumbling to herself. "I think it's better if I use a thermometer." She hurried off to get a thermometer after that. A warmth spread across his heart as he saw the woman fussing over him. The burning sensation on his back felt a little more bearable as the warm and fuzzy feeling he got from the woman helped to distract him from the pain. Throughout the night, he couldn't lie down in bed because of how badly his wounds hurt. All he could do was rest his head against the headboard of the bed while trying to get some shuteye.
