• "Yes!" Carla responded emphatically, maintaining direct eye contact with Juliet as she answered her question.
• "Before the Alpha stripped the Queen mother of her title, you were there with her. Surely, you must have some insight into whether she was responsible for Winona's disappearance?" Juliet asked, her tone probing.
• A smile tugged at the corners of Carla's mouth as she processed Juliet's question. This was an opportunity to cast aspersions on the dethroned queen. When Winona was still residing here with us in the palace, the queen mother would frequently threaten to end the poor girl's life if she didn't leave the palace. I am convinced she was responsible, especially considering the way she rejoiced when Winona was nowhere to be found. She even suggested that I should seize the opportunity to get close to the Alpha.
