• More than two weeks had passed since she began her aimless wandering in the dense forest. Every time she attempted to approach a neighboring pack, the men sent by Brent would be hot on her trail.
• Fearful of the torture they might inflict upon her, Winona had no choice but to retreat back into the forest. She would spend days hiding from them, and eventually, they would disappear. But they always reappeared whenever she attempted to cross into another pack. She remembered the punishment Brent had promised to give her. He wanted to make her a rogue.
