• "So, how did the trial go?" Lucy finally broke the silence that had enveloped the dining table for some time after the food had been served. Her mother glanced over at Winona, probably seeking permission with her eyes to share the details. Winona just nodded a bit nonchalantly, as if she couldn't care less whether her mother shared the information or not.
• Lucy could tell that the atmosphere between them was still tense, but at least it was a little better now because they were doing a better job of concealing it. Though, she wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.
• "Honestly, it went well, but I feel bad that my son had to waste so much time on something that wasn't necessary at all..." Her mother had barely finished speaking when Winona interjected.
