Chapter 59
- How wonderful it would be if Dylan could appear and return her cherished teddy bears. She couldn't comprehend why she yearned for his presence so much. She longed to see him, to witness his smile. He had departed in anger, a sight she loathed. How was she to know that the medicine Renz had pilfered was, in fact, a deadly poison? Now Dylan was furious, and she yearned to mend things. His smile was captivating, and his kisses were something she cherished. If she could see him, she would take the initiative to kiss him. She would bring a smile to his face and apologize for her misdeeds. Well, perhaps not all of them, but she would express regret for some.
- They were correct, absence indeed made the heart grow fonder. When Dylan was absent, that's when she truly felt the void of his presence. His malevolent twin was of no help, especially given their striking resemblance. The issue was, both brothers were equally wicked. Dave had commanded his men to strip her of her clothes; what kind of beast does that?
- This cell was frigid, she thought, cursing her spicy potatoes. Even though the men weren't even glancing her way, she felt as though she was under scrutiny. Was there a hidden camera lurking somewhere? She scanned the room, attempting to locate any concealed devices. All she could see were the drab gray walls, desperately in need of a splash of color from her, given the Mafia brothers' lack of artistic flair. Apart from that, there were bright fluorescent lights beaming down from above, illuminating her skin. She yearned for her toy gun, purchased earlier to fend off Dylan's men, so she could extinguish the lights and plunge the cell into darkness.
