• .Dylan's laughter echoed around them, a rich, mocking sound that brought unbidden tears to Roselle's eyes. She had been wrong; she wasn't fearless. She was afraid of many things, but at that moment, her fear was centered on Dylan. His golden eyes seemed devoid of any trace of humanity as they glared at her with undisguised malice.
• "Oh, darling, you can summon all the law enforcement you want, believe me, no one is going to apprehend me. But they will arrest you...if I instruct them to," Dylan declared.
• "You can't do that, you're not omnipotent," she countered, her tears betraying her, cascading down her cheeks.
