Chapter 21

  • Roselle gently lowered herself down once they reached the center of Dylan Ford's living room. As Roselle took in the scene before her, she felt a wave of nausea threatening to overcome her. The apartment was in complete disarray, as if a tornado had swept through. The furniture was overturned, with one of the love seat's legs broken. The once pristine glass frames on the walls now resembled shattered spider webs. The flat screen TV hung crookedly, and blood splatters adorned the walls like a grotesque form of art. In front of Roselle lay the lifeless bodies of four men, their faces covered in blood and gore. It was a horrifying sight, and it made her head spin. Two of the men were unrecognizable, their features distorted beyond recognition. The other two had gunshot wounds between their eyes, as if Dylan had used them for target practice. Their vacant eyes stared emptily at the ceiling.
  • "Oh my God," Roselle gasped, feeling a wave of dizziness wash over her. Once again, Dylan caught her before she could collapse.
  • "Take a deep breath, you're safe," he reassured her, his grip firm around her waist.
