Chapter 36

  • Roselle woke up disoriented, the constant beep beep serving as a background lullaby. When she managed to pry her eyelids apart, the first thing she became aware of was the warmth enveloping her. She looked down to see herself swaddled in a comforter. The next thing she noticed was the room. It was unfamiliar; the walls were a soothing green, which helped her relax. She had to admit, color therapy really did work, she had always thought it was a myth. Her gaze then fell on the IV tube snaking out of her arm and ending at a transparent bag half-filled with clear liquid. Finally, she felt the heaviness in her head and legs. She touched her head only to find it bandaged. She tried to get up, but the effort resulted in her falling back down, exhausted.
  • What on earth happened to me?
  • As soon as that question entered her mind, the answer followed. Immediately, the fog in her mind dissipated and scenario upon scenario flashed in her mind like a relentless slideshow. Dylan and her fighting. Dylan blind folding her and taking her away. Dylan leaving her in a room full of snakes. Snakes! The snakes coming at her. Her begging Dylan to let her go. The snakes biting her. Her falling on the floor and hitting her head.
