Chapter 9

~ July 31st - 8:00AM ~
Peeking up at the sky, Zoe saw a few clouds, but mostly, it was a sunny and warm morning. Zoe ran her fingers over the surface of her red 1999 Ford Escort. Hitting her hand on the trunk lid a few times, she looked at her mom and dad. Each of them had a broad smile on their face. “I think that’s everything!” she shouted, trying to shake off the butterfly effect that was rolling around in her stomach. Motioning her feet to where her parents were standing. She squeezed them tightly. Letting them know she was ready for the vacation at Sophia's parent's cabin. Each parent gently kissed the top of her head, "You are going to have a great time, my dear." her mother cooed.
With a deep breath, she steadied herself, feeling the flutter of nerves in her chest gradually settle. Forcing a pleasant grin as she looked up at her parents, making sure the smile reached her eyes. “If I’m going to stick to my travel plans, it’s time to hit the road!” she declared; taking her sunglasses from the top of her head, she placed them on her face. With a glance at the clock, '8:08, I need to go if I am to be early!' she thought to herself.
