Chapter 33

  • ~ August 1st - Past Midnight ~
  • The children of The Keeper stood watch over the cabin grounds while night enveloped everyone in deep slumber. Silently, the moon rose high in the sky, reaching its zenith. In the loft above, Delilah had slithered through the window in her snake form, inching closer to the tiny human sleeping nearby. However, she would never admit it out loud. Secretly, Delilah found this little human intriguing. It wasn't just the scent the little human gave off. Nor was it the fact that her eldest brother had a fondness for her. The little human had a calming aura about her. Almost mirroring someone she knows, her mother. This sparked a feeling of curiosity within her.
  • The area was cleared of clutter, making her footsteps easy to place. Only the sounds of the floorboards creaking gave way to movement. Squatting down, moving deliberately to avoid waking the little human. Delilah carefully lifted the bandana that covered the small figure's forehead. With her keen eyesight, she noticed the wound beneath. As the clouds shifted, the moonlight revealed the gruesome damage in stark detail. With delicate care. Not wanting to cause any pain nor wishing to wake the little human up. Delilah placed the fabric back over the wound as it had been before.
