Chapter 17

• ~ July 31st - 3:28 PM ~
• As Rodger and Zoe sat in the cabin. An ominous shadow crept along the exterior of the cabin. Inching down the walls as the sun continued to descend down the horizon. Despite the tension Zoe was feeling, the cabin air seemed crisp and fresh. Though no words were spoken, the sound of the woodland creatures had filled the void.
• They could hear the tires crunching on the debris that was on the ground. Before the faint sound of a vehicle's door being open could reach their ears, Rodger leaned into the table. His voice a low, “Remember, don’t let Don get in your head.” His hand patted Zoe's. Smiling at her, he gave Zoe a reassuring nod of his head. "Remember ... just walk away. As you have always done!" He grinned, showing off his teeth.
