Chapter 38

• ~ August 1st - Morning ~
• A pot of water was placed on the crackling flames. Ella and Taylor finished packing their belongings before Lance was fully dressed, making sure everything they brought was in the truck. With bittersweet excitement bubbling within them, they closed the back end of the truck, each smiling at the other.
• The sky was filled with doom and gloom while the rest of the group stirred awake. Shuffling their feet around as they yawned and stretched. Starting with the morning ritual of proper hygiene, once they were finished, they desired a cup of coffee. The cabin door could be heard opening and closing, followed by sets of feet heading down the deck steps. Dragging their feet to the fire pit that would offer them heat and a hot beverage. More dark, threatening clouds lingered above them. At this point, the patter of rain was holding off. The gang was drawn to the warmth of the fire and the rich aroma of coffee wafting through the air.
