Chapter 22 Coincidence

  • Lucas stirred in his sleep when he felt a sprinkle of water on his face. He cracked his eyes open and saw Danika standing a foot away from him with her robe tied securely around her waist and a glass of water in her hand.
  • “What’s this Danika?” He gruffly asked, fluttering his eyes open.
  • “There’s no food in the fridge. What exactly am I going to bite on before heading out this morning?” Her voice was high-pitched, as she worded.
  • Lucas grunted, reclined his head back, and closed his eyes so he could pent up his anger.
  • Shortly after, he leaned forward holding his gaze with Danika’s, and asked.
  • “You woke me from my slumber because you didn’t see something to bite on?” He cocked his brow, anticipating her answer.
  • “Of course.” She shrugged, indifferently. “You’re the man of the house and it’s your duty to provide food.” She huffed, rolling her eyes. “Just go find something for me to eat,” Danika said, authoritatively crossing her arms against her chest.
  • Lucas curled back up on the bed, clipping his eyes closed not wanting to banter words with Danika.
  • ‘On a fucking Saturday morning!?’ He yelled inside his mind. ‘Gosh, this girl is something else. I’m so fucking tired of her.’
  • Seeing that she had been ignored, anger shot through Danika, hence she flared up.
  • “Lucas!! Get the fuck up and find something for me! Jeez. Other men skitter around to find something for their fiancée to eat but you just lie there like a buffoon while I’m starving.” She yelped, ruffling her hair.
  • “Don’t you learn from your friend Ethan? Don’t you see how he pampers his woman?” She asked, voice resonating on the walls of the room.
  • Lucas cracked open his eye, smirking at her comment.
  • “Thanks, Danika. I just love that term you fucking used ‘his woman'.”
  • Danika actually didn’t get what Lucas is hitting at.
  • “Estrella is his woman so, of course, Ethan will cherish, love, and pamper her but you ain’t. You’re not in anywhere close to what I can call mine. My woman.” Lucas emphasized.
  • Those words jabbed Danika’s heart, tore it into shards. No matter what she does Lucas won’t give a fuck about her.
  • Sometimes she feels being nice would draw him closer but Lucas will end up writing her off with his words. When she tries to be harsh, he ends up stabbing her again with words.
  • “You’re not in anywhere close to what I can call mine.”
  • Lucas’s words rippled through her mind. No matter what Lucas says to her, Danika’s obsession for him won’t lapse rather she pins the blame on the person she assumes to be the actual reason why Lucas behaves like this with her.
  • ‘Sia.’ She mumbled inwardly, gritting her teeth.
  • However, Danika decided to blow the bubble and scare Lucas.
  • “Fine. When my mother returns next week, you’ve got some fucking explanations to do. Just know you'll be pathetic when she takes an abrupt decision.”
  • After saying this, Danika waltzed off the room, Slamming the door shut behind her.
  • Lucas on the other hand felt a jolt of shiver reeling his body hearing what Danika proclaimed.
  • “Mrs. Woods is coming back next week? What the hell!” He grumbled, running his hand through his hair, exasperated.
  • Lucas just doesn’t want to get on Hera Woods's bad side when she returns. He already knows Danika will list all the things he did to her but will she condone it when Danika admits he starves her?
  • “Lucas get your ass off and head to the mall to fetch somethings for that spoiled brat.” He whispered and propped off from the bed.
  • He shuffled into his washroom and had a quick bath. He stalked back to his room and donned black pants and a long sleeve Tshirt which he rolled up the sleeves. Lucas left a few of his buttons undone, exposing the curly strands of hair on his chest. He neatly combed his hair while peering at the mirror.
  • When done prepping, he inched to the nightstand and picked up his card and phone then he filed down the flight of stairs.
  • When he shuffled into the living room, he didn’t see Danika.
  • “Sir Lucas. Ms. Woods left the house a while ago.” He heard his servants' voices peal.
  • Without looking back Lucas nodded and stormed out of the house.
  • Meanwhile, Sia equally prepared to get some of her personal stuff at the mall despite Michelle’s request that she should rest and let one of the servants purchase that for her.
  • “Why don’t you rest, Mrs. Monson? You’ve had an insanely stressful week yet you want to go out again?” Michelle’s words seeped through Sia’s ears.
  • Sighs, Sia knit her brows together, bashing her eyes at Michelle.
  • “Michelle, believe me, I’m going to be back soon. I just want to get a few things that I need at the mall. I won’t stress myself. I cross my heart.” Sia pouted, making a cross sign on her chest.
  • “I insist you let a servant run the errand for you…”
  • “Hell no! Don’t worry you head off Michelle. I won’t faint at the mall.” Sia said, striding backward to the car. “Bye Michelle!” With smiles etched on her face, Sia bade goodbye to Michelle then she piled up in the car.
  • “I'll invite a masseuse for you…” Michelle rasped out, but Sia didn’t hear her because the driver already rolled out of the villa.
  • A while later they arrived at the mall. Sia immediately shoved out of the car when the driver squeezed into a garage. She clamped her black mini bag that matched her mid-thigh boat-neck black dress, slung it in her left arm, and shuffled inside the mall.
  • Hordes of people were striding in and out of the mall through the Escalator. Sia planted her feet on it and made her way to the second floor where varieties of things are sold.
  • She made a beeline to the toiletries section first after being frisked. Sia darted her eyes around looking for the specific brand of Botanics she uses, ‘VUB' by name and it has a collection of soap, cream, body scrub, and face cream.
  • Then she scoured for her particular brand of makeup remover and nail remover.
  • “I think I need a toothbrush and paste too.” She whispered under her breath. Then she head to the shelf brimmed with all kinds of toothbrush, she clutched a packet and picked toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant.
  • When she finished picking the articles she needs, Sia headed to the provision section and packed different kinds of provisions that she needs before heading to pay at the counter.
  • On her way to the counter, she felt her phone buzz and Sia stopped to shove it out of her pocket.
  • However, Lucas shuffled into the provision section with his cart, picking on the ones he wanted but he somewhat saw someone like Sia from the corner of his eye. When he tersely turned to confirm his suspicions, the lady already blended with the crowd.
  • Sighs, Lucas muttered, “that can’t be Sia. I doubt she stays in Florida. If she is Florida I’d have seen her after the engagement party…tsk.”
  • He rolled his eyes and began stuffing things in his cart.
  • Sia slowly tottered toward
  • the counter while speaking breezily with Estrella.
  • “Girlfriend, can you come over to my place this afternoon?”
  • Sia bit on her lower lip, drinking in Estrella’s words.
  • “This afternoon? I’m not sure. Why? Anything amiss?” She asked, gruffly.
  • The exhaustion she’s been trying to muffle is beginning to creep in on her nerves.
  • “My…my…Ethan’s mother wants to come over this afternoon. So I want to make something she could eat but I’m so failing it. I burnt three lasagna I made...” Sia heard Estrella stomping her feet, letting out a shrill wail.
  • She broke into laughter.
  • “You’re laughing!?” Estrella shouted.
  • Sia clasped her hand on her mouth, muffling her laughter. “What no. How can I laugh at your plight?” she denied.
  • “Then what? You were crying, is it?” Estrella asked.
  • “Nothing. It wasn’t me. It’s someone beside me. You know how the mall gets crammed with hordes of people…” She moistened her lips.
  • “Pretty liar!!” Estrella slurred. “Tell me, will you come over?”
  • “Oh, girl, I’m so sorry to disappoint you but I’m kinda exhausted and need to recuperate my strength today. I’m sorry Estrella…”
  • “Oh, I see. It’s okay. You should rest.” Estrella said but you’d notice how sullen she sounded.
  • “Look what will happen. I'll have my head servant prepare a delicious Lasagna for you and bring it over. How about that?” Sia ladled out her suggestion. And she confirmed it resonated with Estrella when she heard her squeal in delight.
  • “Perfect idea, Sia. Thanks a zillion, times…you’re the best girlfriend in the world!” Estrella exclaimed blowing smooches in the air for Sia.
  • “Alright. You'll receive it soon. Bye.” Sia hung up and shuffled in the queue.
  • She wriggled out her black card from her bag and immediately the woman beside her saw the card she exclaimed in utter shock.
  • “A black card!!”
  • Hearing that everyone’s eyes turned to Sia as the lady stared pointedly at her.
  • Sia became so mortified that she began biting her lower lip, darting her eyes anywhere but there.
  • “She’s with a black card?”
  • “Where did she get it from?”
  • “Who is she?
  • “There’s only one person that can afford to use a black card and that's Mr. Monson. So who is this woman?”
  • “Does she have a zillionaire friend?”
  • Sia heard everyone muttering amongst themselves and that made her more embarrassed and alert.
  • Immediately it reached her turn to pay. She precipitately slide her card into the machine and typed the total amount of money her items were.
  • “Thanks, ma’am.” The cashier said, beaming at Sia. She’s equally in awe at the sight of Sia’s black card.
  • Sia just gave her a slight nod, turned on her heels, and strode out from the queue.
  • However, as she was about to leave, Lucas who is now in the queue spotted her.
  • His eyes dilated, shocked to see Sia striding out from the queue, elegantly.
  • “Sia!!” Lucas’s voice came out in a ragged whisper, his heart began hammering in his chest.
