Chapter 16 Work

  • “Uh…” Sia stirred in her sleep immediately after her alarm clock began roaring. She held her fist in a knot while yawning. She already knows what today is, the first time she’ll waddle into the Monson group as the owner but with her identity hidden.
  • Sia basically wants to start working on a few things at the company but on a lowkey. Until then, no one will know who she really is except a few employees that were in close proximity with Mr. Monson.
  • “Time for work out!” she chirped, propping up from her bed.
  • The time just ticked six O’clock in the morning and the sky is barely bright yet. Sia usually goes on roadwork around this time whenever she has something vital she needs to do.
  • When they were still at Stanford, Estrella got habituated to waking up at exactly six in the morning, all thanks to Sia who goes on roadwork by this time.
  • Sia raked for her sports clothes, wrapped herself in them, and made a beeline for the stairs. She kicked started her roadwork and in about an hour, she returned back to the Monson villa, a sheen of sweat clothed her skin.
  • “Please, Mark get the car. We'll be leaving this morning.” She instructed while ascending the stairs to her room.
  • A few hours later, Sia came back to the dining elegantly clad in a black business suit, a pair of glass heels, and a handbag. She styled her hair in a loose ponytail, her face was on fleeks.
  • “Mrs. Monson, I was just about to inform the food is ready.” Michelle chirped, setting a few platters brimmed with food on the table.
  • “Thank you, Michelle.” Sia acknowledged, pulling out a seat for her to settle on. However, Michelle’s face creased in a smile when she drank in Sia’s attire.
  • “I must say you look stunning, Mrs. Monson.” Michelle cooed, making Sia beam a smile at her.
  • Sia knows she looks exceptionally great and that’s her plan now she’ll take over the company.
  • Sia downed the food slightly, leaving remnants on the plate, and called Michelle to inform her about her departure. Afterward, she crept to the garage, slithered into the car and the driver rolled out of the villa, heading straight to the company.
  • Sia can’t describe how happy she is at the moment. She had once been to the company when Monson was showing her all his property.
  • She was shell-shocked when they arrived at the company for the first and saw it was not just an ordinary building but a skyscraper. A bold inscription of ‘The Monson Group’ written at the entrance.
  • The company has different sections, where women’s shoes and bags are produced, men's shoes and so many other things.
  • Shortly after, they arrived at the company and the driver rolled to a halt in the parking lot. He shoved out of the car, scrambled to Sia’s side, and flapped the door open.
  • Gracefully, Sia pinned her plush feet on the ground as she slid out of the car. Her eyes flit around the surroundings, she saw the employees, clients, security, and the rest tottering in and out of the company. Then she tilted her head upward, marveling at the incredible height of the building.
  • “Good morning ma’am. This way please.” Sia’s brows snapped together when the familiar voice tugged
  • her from her thoughts.
  • She veered and saw a lady prolly in her early thirties smiling graciously at her.
  • “Rebekah?” she called rather questionably.
  • “Absolutely ma’am. Welcome.” Rebekah spewed, her smiles never straying from her face. Sia knows her as Mr. Monson’s secretary and she informed her about her arrival today that’s prolly the reason Rebekah came to pick her up.
  • “Thank you.” Sia flashed her brows at Rebekah and followed the direction Rebekah gestured for her.
  • Sia strayed her eyes around at the magnificent building, the ground floor is where the main receptionists stay to welcome visitors.
  • However, the CEO also has a personal receptionist but before meeting the CEO's receptionist, the person will have to get a card which will serve as a pass to the visitor. Then once they get to the CEO's floor, the visitor will present the card to the main receptionists before gaining access to the CEO's office.
  • Rebekah shooed Sia inside the exclusive elevator where she pressed the button to the CEO’s floor.
  • Pregnant silence encased them while inside the elevator. Sia was fiddling with her phone while Rebekah stared at the empty space. The door dinged open on the floor and they both crept outside.
  • This floor is usually not crowded as other floors are, and only a few employees are stationed here.
  • Sia flounced behind Rebekah, her eyes studying the whole environment as they trod to the main office.
  • Immediately they got to the door, Rebekah flung it open for Sia to move inside.
  • Sia spiraled her head and eyes at each angle of the office. The place seems quite nice and convenient but Sia wasn’t entirely satisfied with its décor.
  • “I need this place redecorated, quick.” She snapped and Rebekah inclined her head in a nod.
  • “Will see to it ma’am,” Rebekah assured.
  • Sia ambled behind the huge glass desk and swiveling black leather seat and sat down.
  • “I'd like to put some flowers at the corners, not too much but you know a good number of it. And I want murals, like natural scenery, inspiring quotes, and something a feast to the eyes to be hung on the wall…” Sia rattled on.
  • “Sure ma’am.” Rebekah nodded, drinking in all her orders.
  • “I believe there’s a washroom here too?” Sia asked, still making her lynx-eye examination.
  • “Yes ma’am. This adjoining door is the washroom and it's exceptionally clean. The janitors mop it twice a day.” Rebekah explained, in detail.
  • “Okay, that’s perfect.” Sia nodded, satisfied. “I’ll inform you about any other thing I need changes on. But these I pointed out, I’d like it if you work on it within two working days.” Sia spewed, locking eyes with Rebekah.
  • “Sure ma’am. Leave it to me.”
  • “Perfect. I believe you’ll do well.” Sia simpered. “Have a seat.” She gestured for Rebekah to settle down as her eyes met the stack of files on the table.
  • “Um… ma’am, were you aware that Mr. Silas came here a few days ago?” Rebekah asked brows snapped together in sheer curiosity.
  • “This office?” Sia returned Rebekah’s question with a question, mulling over what Silas was looking for since the office now belongs to her.
  • Sia knows Silas better, he’d try any possible thing to confiscate this property from her but she won’t let him.
  • “Yes ma’am. He was looking for some documents.” Rebekah added.
  • “I appreciate this information. From now on, Silas is not to be allowed into this office unless I’m around, got that?”
  • “Sure ma’am.”
  • “So do inform the security men about it. And Rebekah I'd like you to get a few people to apply for a personal assistant position. I need a personal assistant and I want to interview all applicants myself. If possible broadcast about it today. So from tomorrow, I’ll start the interview.”
  • “Alright, ma’am. Could you please give me some time? Let me head to the human resource department and inform them about this?” Asked Rebekah, waiting to hear Sia’s next orders.
  • “Can’t that wait until I’m done with you? Okay fine…” she exhaled, sharply. “I give you two minutes to handle that.”
  • Hearing the orders, Rebekah scrambled out of the office and headed to the human resource department.
  • However, Sia began inspecting the office more. She checked every corner of the office and the shelf where dozens of files are arranged, neatly.
  • Sia browsed through some of the files and deciphered they’re files from different companies and business magnates Mr. Monson must have worked with.
  • While she was on it. Rebekah clicked the door open and ambled inside.
  • “All set. Applicants will start coming tomorrow morning, ma’am.” Rebekah informed, waiting to hear Sia’s response but Sia just gave her a swift nod.
  • “So, what are these files you stacked on the table?” Sia asked as she flounced back to the seat, her soft cologne puncturing Rebekah’s nose.
  • “Oh, these documents belong to the companies Mr. Monson had unfinished business with before he passed away. I decided to glean them together so you can look into it.” Rebekah explained, inching the files close to Sia.
  • Sia flipped the first page of each file to learn the names of each company.
  • “Mr. Monson’s ailment negated him from finishing these up and I’m sure these companies must be eagerly waiting for a response,” Sia whispered to herself but it whooshed in Rebekah’s ears.
  • “I’m going to look into their proposal and every detail about each company before I give my resounding approval.” Sia rattled on while flipping the flies.
  • Suddenly, she stumbled upon a particular file with the name,
  • “Evangelista’s Group.”
  • She looked beneath the company name and saw “Lucas Evangelista” as the sole owner of the company.
  • Sia’s eyes dilated, shocked at what she just saw.
  • “Lucas had an unfinished business with Mr. Monson.” She wheezed breezily while flipping the pages, leafing through the files.
  • ‘your enemy is now in your lair, Sia. What a marvelous opportunity to grab.’ Her instincts spat, joy coiling Sia’s heart.
  • ‘Lucas is now at my mercy.’ She squealed inside her.
  • Just then she picked up the file, smiling, “I'll look into this.” She said to Rebekah as she clipped it close.
  • Sia raised her head and held Rebekah’s gaze, beaming, “Now it’s time to tour me around each department and section of the company but you must keep my identity couched.”
  • Rebekah tilted her head in a nod.
  • Gracefully, Sia rose from her seat clamped her bag in her arm and Lucas’s file in hand.
  • “Shall we?” she asked and Rebekah gestured her to the door.
