Chapter 4
- Katherine’s POV
- The first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes was the heavy weight of the air. It wasn’t the suffocating kind of heaviness—it was charged, thick with something primal. My heart thudded as I blinked, my vision adjusting to the soft, sterile lighting.
- Three handsome men stood around me, making the hospital room seem small.
- Two of them immediately caught my attention, and I knew why. They didn’t just stand—they loomed, radiating an energy so powerful it was impossible to ignore. Alpha Aura. Every wolf knows that oppressive, commanding presence. These weren’t just any Alphas. They were the kind you read about in pack history books, the ones whose very names carried weight.
- Jason and James.
- Alpha Jason and Alpha James.
- I recognized them instantly. Everyone did. They weren’t just Alphas—they were legends. Powerful, feared, and respected in every corner of the lands. Even Wendal had a portrait of Alpha Jason in his office, often admiring him and referring to him as his role model. The man he wished to be one day.
- And now, here they were, standing right in front of me.
- The third man was different. His aura didn’t demand submission, but there was something about him—something steady, soothing. The doctor. His warm brown eyes met mine, and I felt it again. That pull. That connection. My heart skipped, it was him, them. My bond with the doctor wasn’t like the other two. His presence felt gentler, like a warm breeze instead of a thunderstorm.
- I froze, my breath catching in my throat as realization crashed over me like a tidal wave.
- They’re all my mates.
- Three of them. Two powerful Alphas who could make the strongest wolves tremble, and one doctor whose calm gaze made my chest ache.
- How was this possible?
- One mate was a sacred bond. That’s how it had always been. Fate didn’t make mistakes—at least, it wasn’t supposed to. But now, I felt that unmistakable pull toward all three of them. I was tethered to them by invisible threads, each one tightening around my heart. This is impossible.
- The doctor was the first to speak. He cleared his throat, his voice steady but soft. “You’re awake. How are you feeling?”
- His tone was gentle like he was speaking to something fragile. It almost irritated me—almost. I was not used to being cared for or spoken to in gentle tones. Wendal taught me to earn my keep. Being stuck in that loveless relationship with him for three years, trying to prove that I was worthy of marriage. But the doctor looked at me like I deserved better. He looked at me like I was the only thing in the world. The Alpha twins felt suffocation, their authority and power blanketed the room. I’d heard about what it would feel like to be in a room with even one of them. But now they were two, and they were my mates.
- Oh, Goddess!
- Alpha James and Alpha Jason were staring at me like I was their next meal. They had that look of dark obsession in their eyes. The doctor’s hand brushed mine as he adjusted the blanket, and the sparks that shot up my arm made me forget everything else.
- “I…” My voice came out hoarse, my throat dry. “What happened?”
- The taller twin stepped forward. Alpha Jason. His green eyes locked onto mine, and I felt my heart skip. His jaw tightened, and the guilt in his expression was so stark it almost didn’t match the fierce aura he carried.
- “My brother hit you,” he admitted, his deep voice resonating through the room. “With his car. You were on the road. He didn’t see you until it was too late.”
- His words hung in the air, and for a moment, I just stared at him.
- Alpha Jason. The man whose name alone could make an entire room fall silent, was apologizing to me. It didn’t feel real. None of this did.
- “ I am really sorry. I didn’t see you step into the road until it was too late. I thought you were dead and had to resuscitate you.’’
- I raised a brow, shocked as they looked at him, Alpha James. “Like mouth to mouth?’’ I asked, touching my lips, certain distant memories entering my mind. He shook his head ‘yes’. A blush crept up my cheeks, that was equal to a kiss, right?
- The mighty famous Alpha had put his mouth on mine? Oh Goddess!
- “Why were you on the road?” Alpha James asked. His tone was softer, but his green eyes held a sharper edge.
- I couldn’t answer. My brain was still trying to process everything—where I was, who I was with, and the impossible truth that I felt an undeniable bond with all three of them.
- Alpha James and Alpha Jason. Powerhouses. Legends. Royalty.
- And the doctor… His presence was quieter, but no less significant. His gaze was locked on me, his brows slightly furrowed as though he was trying to solve a puzzle.
- I couldn’t even think straight. How was I supposed to react to this? To them?
- My thoughts were interrupted by a sharp vibration. My phone, buzzing on the table beside my bed.
- The doctor picked it up and handed it to me, his hand brushing mine again. My skin tingled where we touched, and I felt the bond flare. He must have felt it too because his breath hitched before he quickly stepped back.
- I glanced at the screen. Wendal.
- My stomach twisted. Against my better judgment, I answered.
- “What do you want?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended.
- “Katherine,” Wendal’s voice dripped through the line, smug and condescending. “Don’t be stupid. Come home. You still have a place here—if you humble yourself. We need a maid, and you need a roof over your head. It’s a win-win.”
- His words hit me like a slap. Even now, after everything, he thought he could belittle me, control me.
- I couldn’t go back. I wouldn’t.
- Lowering the phone, I ended the call without another word. My hands trembled as I placed it back on the table. My heart pounded, my chest tightening as I looked up at the three men around me.
- The words left my mouth before I could stop them.
- “Can I stay with you?”
- Silence.
- The room froze, and their expressions shifted from shock to something unreadable. My own heart raced as I realized what I’d just asked. But there was no taking it back now.
