- Michael’s POV
- The tires hummed steadily against the asphalt as I pushed the car faster, my hands firm on the wheel. The sun was dipping behind the hills, I had a brief moment of calm. I was exhausted, physically and mentally drained from the chaos of the last few days. Being with Katherine was the only thing worth it. My mind kept spinning in loops—Katherine. She was at the center of it all, and I couldn’t shake the sinking feeling in my gut.
- The sound of the engine echoed in my ears as I rounded a bend on the desolate road. I glanced at the clock. Almost home. I pressed down on the accelerator, hoping the ride back to the pack house would give me a little peace before the storm I knew was coming.
