• The steady hum of the phone against my ear barely distracted me as I shuffled through the stack of documents spread across my desk. “So, we’re all in agreement?” I said into the receiver, my eyes narrowing as I scrawled my signature on a contract. “We should build Katherine a home on the Island to keep her safe. Until things settle down, this is not the place for her.”
• Michael nodded in agreement, his brows drawn. “She’ll be protected there. The Island is isolated. No one can touch her.”
