Chapter 8

  • Richard
  • Upon the doctor’s demand, we bring Claudia to a hospital with care so that her foot will not suffer many movements. The doctor improvises a splint when we arrive. They need to perform X-rays to know exactly the extent of what the doctor believes is a sprain, as well as to examine in more detail the bruises and scratches on my wife’s body. I think he believes that by having me in his territory he has more advantage over me. Poor fool, although necessary at this moment for the well-being of that poor foolish woman.
  • Two hours later, the doctor informs me that indeed the damage to my wife’s body was caused by branches and a fall. The fever Is not a concern because she caught a simple cold from being exposed to the night cold. For now, they have her medicated to prevent infection in the various small wounds. Due to the fall, the bone in my wife’s ankle has splintered, so she will have to use a splint for at least five weeks. That will visibly frustrate her escape attempts in the future, which, by the way, is now the new direction of the doctor’s speculations.
