• Isabel and I are locked in a staring war, in which I am not willing to lose. I don’t care about the reasons she had for acting behind my back or if she is right in what she says. I am tired of letting others decide for me. I am tired of being an object that everyone manipulates at their whim, and not a person capable of standing on her own. I love my friend, of course I do, and she has no idea how much I miss her, but that doesn’t mean I will celebrate her breach of trust.
• “I said I’m leaving. Neither you nor him can understand that I am fed up with being seen as the poor little girl who needs to be taken care of. I am tired of being locked under the will of an arrogant egomaniac who can’t see beyond his own nose, only to fall into the hands of an overprotective sister,” I huff. “I appreciate your help, and I’m sorry for involving you in this. We will always be friends, but right now I am leaving your house,” I decree stubbornly.
