Chapter 19

• The minute I saw Parker closed the door, I slowly came out from my hiding place near the fire escape on our floor. I was crossing my fingers as I headed back to my unit. I hoped that everything would go as I planned. Timing was crucial. I opened the door and that moment Parker was raking his fingers through his hair as he exited my room. He froze when he saw me.
• "What's wrong with you!" came Anne's voice as she stepped out of the room and was also frozen on the spot when she saw me.
• With my mouth hanging open, I looked from one to the other.
