• I moved to one side so the two men can shake hands. I felt Paula's hand on my elbow and she secretly squeezed it. I turned to her but she was looking at my left side with a smile on her lips. I then realized that it was a signal. She wanted me to be ready for anything because Lucas' cousin was beside me because I could smell her floral perfume. I slowly moved my head to look at her. She had a pretty smile suitable for a beauty pageant contestant. I nodded at her as the two men talked. Caleb's back was on us. We were saved from exchanging pleasantries when we heard Lucas' voice.
