Chapter 140

  • Luca felt sick even though the doctor said he was good, he didn’t feel good because he couldn’t feel his legs and it was hard to raise any part of his body, for the first two days that he woke up, he couldn’t even move or speak, it took him a whole day to remember everything that happened to him and the only good thing about everything was that Claudia was no more but he couldn’t help the anger that he felt when he remembered that she still managed to get to him even after she died but he knew that it was the last time she would ever do anything to him.
  • From the moment his car crashed, Luca knew that his life would change and it wouldn’t be for the better but what he didn’t think about was that he might not be able to walk again, he had asked the doctor about his situation as soon as he could talk and as far as he knew, the chances of him walking on his own ever again were low, he couldn’t even feel his legs, he felt resentful towards the universe but then again, he felt like he was getting punished for what he did to Nora, that’s what he thought when the doctor had told him his legs were the most affected. Speaking of Nora, the woman has been over him since he woke up, she was the first person he saw when he opened her eyes and for a moment, he had thought he died and gone to heaven and met an angel, but then she kept calling his name and even crying, he finally recognized her face and then he remembered that she wasn’t supposed to be in Italy anymore. He concluded that she might have found out about his accident and gotten on the plane back to Italy. She tried to hold a conversation with him but he couldn’t even talk to her like he wanted to, he could only stare helplessly, she helped him clean up, helped him eat, and even helped him when he needed to use the restroom, these were things he could do for himself before and watching her do those things for him didn’t sit right with him. He couldn’t let her live a life where she would have to focus on helping him like that, she would eventually get tired of him and it would be bad for the both of them. Soon she would resent him, the thought of that happening made him break into a cold sweat, he didn’t want that to happen, he didn’t want her to turn hateful towards him.
  • Maybe if they had known each other for longer he would not be so scared that she might turn hateful towards him, not like he would blame her if she turned against him, he didn’t want her to give up her life for him, Nora had a lot planned out for her life, she was a smart woman who should not be stuck tending to a broken man.
