• My heart was thumping hard against my chest. I could see her through the dimly lit room as she made her way down the stairs. It was the little girl. She didn’t look older than ten. I could see her facial features perfectly but I could tell that she was the target. I was surprised that she was the one that had come out instead of the older brother.
• The intel had lied. The little girl’s room was close to the parents’ room but so was the older brother’s. How could he not hand hear all the ruckus that had happened in the room? Or was he fast asleep? I doubted that. He had been wide awake when I peeped into his room. And no matter how deep in sleep he was, he would have heard the sounds that came from the room. There was no way he would have missed it.
