Chapter 39 The CEO's Anger

  • He wants her; it’s obvious to anyone who’s watching. A sharp pang of jealousy throbs inside me. He had never looked at me like that. I practically threw myself at him when I was drunk, we had that “moment” in the van… then there was yesterday, in his room. But he had never looked at me like that. He’s not attracted to me. I’m not sure how obvious my envy is on my face, but when Diego looks me in the eyes, he furrows his brow. His expression is followed by a hard look that I can’t decipher, but it makes me nervous.
  • I lower my head and try to refocus on my notes. Fail. I can’t take my eyes off him. Rachel leaves, her hips swaying too suggestively, drawing all the attention. Except Diego, who is now staring at his glass.
  • “With that kind of service, who can say no to this place?” one of the other guys mutters, and they all laugh.
