- He gets up from his seat in the exclusive Manhattan café and reaches out to take my slightly trembling hands. I'm nervous to see her, I realize. I know what comes next, and yet, her leaning in to kiss both of my cheeks makes my blood rush in a strange way, given our sordid history. But I also notice a hint of my mint and lavender soap on her skin, which makes me smile.
- "What are you doing in New York so soon? We just saw each other last week."She tucks her shiny black hair behind her ear as she settles back into her seat.
- "I have a photo shoot for an ad,"she says, dismissing it as no big deal. "In the meantime, I passed by a billboard of her in Times Square just ten minutes ago. I took the liberty of ordering a Beaujolais for us. It's light. Good for earlier in the day."
