Chapter 134 I Should Have Said Goodbye To Diego
- Penthouse Cabin One is now visible as we gain distance from the beach, perched high on the cliff overlooking the waters. I can't help but stare at it as we drift away, wondering if I should have said goodbye to Diego. I should have apologized to you again. If I had done that, today would have been less horrible. A movement on the porch catches my attention. I squint against the blue sky and morning sun to focus on the tall figure leaning on the railing, coffee in hand. My heart stutters.
- It's him. Does he see me? The red in my hair is not as vibrant as it used to be. Does he even care? Should I wave? If I do, and he doesn't respond... I grip the railing tightly to resist the temptation and potential disappointment, the hollow ache in my chest growing.
- "Miss White?"I hear my name being called. An older gentleman is standing watching as John docks the ferry. He is dressed in pants and a golf shirt, and although I must assume he is local, he looks completely out of place next to the busy fishermen loading boxes and supplies onto their boats, with his unshaven beard and randomly thrown together clothes.
