• The ride to the hotel is quiet, but I can feel her excitement radiating behind me. It’s infectious, pulling me from my dark thoughts for just a little while. When we reach the room, I take the dress from her and smile. “Get showered,” I say softly, kissing her forehead. “I need to make a quick call.”
