• The revelations with Michael had Carlina looking at her whole life. It seemed like as soon as she’d processed one thing, another skeleton jumped out of the closet.
• The lengths of manipulation, the things she’d let slide while knowing Michael; had her heaving with panic. But the things she found out about Chief, that should have made her blood run cold, it just seemed to pale - the revelation that it was him outside her door for all those nights, should have terrified her. But for some fucked up reason, it felt comforting alongside the blatant disregard from Michael - it scared her. It felt like the means justified the end.
• Which was probably why, after nearly a month of avoiding him, it was a call from Michael that set her off. Left her waiting at the dining table with a glass in hand when Chief got home, waiting, expression unreadable.
