Of course, Lachlan’s mother had stayed here last night to take care of my mother after a few too many drinks, I realized as I heard them laughing. I quickly veered to rush up the stairway before I was noticed. I did not wish to make polite conversation with either of the women, especially with the remnants of tears lingering within my eyes.
