Chapter 104 Seren
- The car ride was going to be awkward. My whole body trembled the moment I lowered myself into the seat. My heart was beating so hard from standing up to Lachlan, and I could not lie, it also ached from the fact I had walked away from everything between us so easily… okay, maybe not so easly. It had taken a lot of thought over the previous days. Maia was whimpering at the back of mind as we drove away from him, and as I turned back to look at him through the window, he remained where we left him, simply stood with his hands by his sides, his eyes upon the car as it drove away. His eyes dark and blank. Very much looking like a broken man. How had things come to this?
- ‘Don’t go.’ Maia whimpered. ‘Let him speak.’ She urged. I knew she was fighting every natural urge a wolf had when it came to their fated mate, but she had also spoken of her need to protect me. She had fought everything within her to help me heal, and she knew so much of that had been down to the damage Lachlan had caused. But her speaking up now told me that seeing him like this was calling out to her. She could not simply walk away.
- ‘We need to leave, Maia. We are not leaving forever.’ I reminded her, which was the thing I continued to remind her when she had her waivering moments of doubt. Those were the same words I reassured my own mother and brother with too. For the moment I planned to leave the pack to study, those were my immediate plans. The studying I planned was for a number of years, then, I would consider where the future would take me. There were multiple plans, and admittedly, not all involved returning to pack. Not that my family and friends knew that. But, there would be time at later dates to discuss that. For the time being at least, there had been enough to adjust to.
