• I walked alongside Lachlan in almost a trance. The dealthly silence that sat between us beyond uncomfortable. Maia whimpered heavily at the way our mate had all but pushed us away, but I cannot say I was surprised at how he had reacted. The appearance of that wolf out on his midnight run was likely a relief for Lachlan. It had saved him from a moment of madness.
