Chapter 123 He Always Knew

  • POV: Amaia.
  • I cross the entire room with my gaze fixed on him. Adam remains leaning on the railing, in his relaxed pose and never taking his eyes off me, until I reach his booth. The sparkle in his eyes is predatory, even hungry, and it sends shivers down my body.
  • He only makes a move to stand up when I am close enough for him to help me up the short steps. Ironically, I usually dance in higher heels than the ones I am wearing now, and at this moment, I feel my legs trembling, with nerves. That's what he does to me, a whole mix of emotions that sometimes I don't know how to take, how to interpret. But it makes me think that I am still me, the woman who once felt something more than hatred, something more than anger. It makes me believe, hope, that I can recover that part of me that has been hidden for so long. That the crack, only slightly opened by my daughter, can widen and offer me a much better, healthier life.
