  • We run through the trees, quick and light on our feet. I am able to keep up easily with Lachlan and he is fast. I am just desperate by this point to get to Violet, to bring her home and put all of this behind us. We make our way to the edge of the trees but continue along the tree line, knowing we have good cover here, and can be well camouflaged by the trees if anyone was to look up this way. Giving us a degree of protection. From here, we can see the pack is almost deadly silent, the streets empty. Deserted.
  • They have fled. I can only assume they had locked up after hearing of the attack. As they should do. As we would do. Good. Nobody innocent would be hurt. That was something Violet had said she did not want. This way, hopefully, it would not happen if we put a stop to the attack now. As she had requested. I looked to Lachlan. His face was a mask of no emotions. Eyes focused on the area in front of us. He was keeping sure we were safe, as was I, observing for activity, yet there seemed to be none. No sign of warriors...
