Chapter 9 Bumping Into an Expert
- Max recalled what had happened. There were only him and that brat in the airport’s restroom back then. He didn’t think a four-year-old boy could do anything like this, but there shouldn’t be anyone else who knew about this aside from the kid. Was someone else there in the restroom? Max frowned.
- Dexter thought the office’s air was getting suffocating, so he unbuttoned his shirt a little, as if that would make him feel better.
- Max suddenly asked, “Did you manage to pick Catherine up?” He went to the airport for her, but they didn’t bring her back, since they didn’t know how she looked. Back then, Max asked Dexter to hold a sign up in the air, but nobody came to them.
- When Dexter noticed Max had changed the topic, he quickly said, “They told us that Catherine is here. We probably got there late, or that wasn’t her flight. Either way, Miss Catherine is quite arrogant, President Cooper. She is just a designer after all. You going to pick her up is already an honor, yet she dares to stand you up. This is just—”
- “Get on with that video problem. If I still see it online after five minutes, you can start choosing your funeral service company. It’s on the house, so get out now!” Max interrupted him darkly.
- Dexter shut up and quickly went out. Five minutes? The hacker has installed God knows what kind of Trojan it is. Deciphering it alone takes five minutes. President Cooper is just asking for the impossible.
- Max quickly booted up his computer after Dexter had left. He noticed that the whole company’s system was compromised, while the security system couldn’t even work at all. Who’s trying to set me up? Max frowned, then he quickly typed in some codes. As rows and rows of it showed up on his laptop, it didn’t take long for him to break through the first wall of defense.
- Jordan locked himself up in the room so as to avoid seeing the old lady, Lily. When he booted up the computer and saw that the Eterman Group’s security system was in a breakdown, he smiled. This Trojan is going to cause a lot of headache for Max. Then, his computer blinked to inform him that his first firewall was compromised, and he frowned. Didn’t know Eterman Group had this kind of expert.
- Jordan quickly typed some codes to create another virus, but Max managed to lock onto him when he saw the activity. “I am going to drag you out of the shadows, no matter who you are.” It had been a while since Max had been this angry, and it had been a while since he did this kind of thing himself. He had to admit that the hacker had skills, though he thought this guy was still green around the edges.
- When Jordan saw that his screen had frozen up, he knew he had been locked out. Oh no, this is an expert! Jordan wanted to kill the program, but he couldn’t control his device. What should I do? I can’t expose our location! An idea suddenly struck Jordan, and he quickly inserted a USB drive.
- On the other hand, as the computer dinged, the Trojan was deciphered, and Max managed to lock onto the IP address of the hacker. When he saw the IP address, the frown on Max’s brows became deeper. “Get in here, Dexter!”
- Dexter hurried in when he heard Max calling him. “Yes, President Cooper?”
- “Look up where this IP address leads to.” Max tossed Dexter the IP address he managed to find.
- Dexter was stunned when he saw it.
- “What?”
- “President Cooper, this IP address corresponds to the Cooper Residence’s address,” Dexter said fearfully.
- “What did you say?” Max’s expression darkened, and the depressed ambience was making Dexter sweat.
- “It is the Cooper Residence’s address. I installed the device there myself, so I am sure about the IP address of the place.”
- Max’s gaze darkened. This is a wily one. The hacker probably installed a USB drive at the last minute and changed the IP address. He knows a lot about me and the Cooper Family, so who can he be? This is going to be trouble if he’s an enemy.
- “Get to the bottom of this. I want to know the source of this video no matter what, and get me the information of this hacker!”
- “Understood!” Dexter thought he had a great responsibility put on him, so he quickly ran out.
- Jordan plopped down on his chair, his strength sapped. Looks like this deadbeat dad of mine isn’t an idiot. I was this close to being exposed. Gotta be careful from now on.
- “Come out, Jordan. It’s time to eat.”
- When Caitlin knocked on his door, the boy quickly killed the program and opened a game. Then, he said languidly, “Yeah, coming.”
- The moment he opened the door, Caitlin looked at the room. When she saw the game that was playing on the computer, she shook her head slightly. “I told you to not play too much, but you never listen. Also, you have to apologize to Lily later, got that?”
- Jordan frowned again. She wants me to apologize to that old lady? What the heck?
