Chapter 228 Her Heart Hurt Badly
- “Caitlin Clarke, are you deliberately picking fault with me? Do you know how many people are here, both inside and outside? Do you think you can take your parents away by yourself?” Kelly’s expression inexorably turned severe upon seeing that Caitlin had rejected her kindness. She indeed understood the kind of person Reece was, hence wanted to have Caitlin leave first. To her thinking, as long as Caitlin was still alive, perhaps Reece would still hold back and spare Max and the children. She couldn’t believe that Caitlin didn’t understand such a simple truth. So, why is she inviting disaster by overreaching herself now?
- Initially, Caitlin didn’t want to be enemies with Reece, so no matter what he did, she just buried her head in the sand like an ostrich and allowed Max to resolve things. She even felt that the beauty of many things could be retained as long as she didn’t step out. Now, however, Kelly’s betrayal had entirely awakened her to the fact that lying to herself in such a manner yielded no benefits at all. An ostrich mentality won’t cause villains to exercise restraint, nor will they be struck with pity. Conversely, they will only take things even further. My failure in protecting Abby has been a source of guilt throughout the past five years, so if I allow Max and Abby to again plunge into danger now, am I, Caitlin Clarke, still human?
- Looking at Kelly, Caitlin said in a whisper, “Kelly, I’m sorry. I’ve truly regarded you as a friend throughout the past five years, but there’s a saying that those whose courses are different cannot lay plans for one another. Since you insist on siding with Reece now, I’m not going to say anything, but I won’t be leaving today. I want to leave this place with my parents, and even you can’t stop me!”
