Chapter 52 I’m Here for You
- “Hey, are you sure you don’t want it anymore?” Max suddenly found Caitlin’s vexed expression amusing. In the three years they’d been married, he’d never seen Caitlin behaving thus. She’d always been very cautious around him and was even somewhat ingratiating to the point that she’d made herself miserable for the sake of a personal habit of his. Did the meek and subservient wife who’d practiced forbearance as though she were a doormat not only had her face changed now, but even her personality?
- Or could this be her original personality, but she’d lost herself back then because of her love for him? If that was truly the case, then did this mean that Caitlin no longer loved him? When this possibility came to him, Max felt extremely upset. She’d once loved him so deeply, so how could she simply stop loving him in so short a time? Plus, they had a child—Jordan, his and Caitlin’s son—now, no? The child that he’d once thought had perished was now hale and hearty before him, and he was very brilliant at that. At this moment, his emotions were a jumbled mess, and he couldn’t tell how he was feeling.
- He got off the bed and handed the pillow to Caitlin, the scoundrelly air he had earlier gone. It was as though he’d returned to his indifferent and distant self five years ago, but at a closer look, he wasn’t quite the same. His placid eyes were shining with an indecipherable gleam at this time.
