• Lauren was about to investigate what was wrong, but Euan quickly got in her way and asked, “Where are you going? I’m so hungry that I can eat a horse. Come on! Let’s get something to eat. Don’t tell me you’re trying to starve me.”
• “Not before you tell me what’s going on.” Lauren stopped in her tracks and looked Euan in the eyes, insisting on hearing some answers from him.
• “Well, somebody tried to pull a prank on us by sending some silly stuff.” Knowing that he could no longer hide the matter from Lauren, Euan gave her a brief explanation to satiate her curiosity. “I don’t want you to see those filthy things, so I told Julie to take care of it. Don’t worry. I’ll get the police involved if whoever is behind this crosses the line. By then, there will be no further trouble bothering us.”
