Chapter 295 Lauren Visited Her Biological Mother’s Grave
- Those who could be buried at Western Suburbs Hilltop Cemetery were either affluent or belonged to the nobility. Early in the morning, Lauren drove to this cemetery on the hilltop. Axel initially wanted to accompany her, but she declined and came alone. Slowly, she walked further in before stopping in front of two tombstones. Gardenias were planted everywhere around the grave, and the two tombstones read ‘Beloved Wife, Yvonne Allert’ and ‘Beloved Daughter, Sophie Collins’, respectively. Meanwhile, it was signed with her grandfather’s name, Julian Collins.
- Bending down, Lauren knelt before the two tombstones and stretched out a hand to touch the photos on the tombstones. The woman in the black and white photo was still very young and had a stunning countenance that was similar to hers. Meanwhile, the woman in the black and white photo on the adjacent tombstone was advanced in years, her hair gray. However, one could still vaguely tell from her age-wizened countenance that she was a great beauty back in her younger days.
- As she stared at the photo, tears trickled out the corner of her eyes to drip onto the ground one after another, forming a cold puddle. This is my mother, the woman who gave birth to me! Yet, it’s only now that I know of her existence, and I had even called an enemy ‘Mom’ for over 20 years! “Mom…” she finally choked out in a broken voice. Deep within her, however, distress reigned as a sense of suffocation swamped her. Ducking, she rested her head against the cool tombstone. “I’m sorry. Please forgive me for only coming to visit you now… I’m sorry…”
