Chapter 371 Is Lauren Really Dead?
- At the sight of that, Simon hurriedly rushed downstairs to inform the police and the firefighters that there were two people in the ward. After obtaining further confirmation of the situation, the authorities began to rescue the victims. Meanwhile, amidst the thick, dark smoke, Ethan’s face felt like it was burning as he covered his nose and mouth with his sleeve. Upon getting into the ward, he saw no sign of Lauren, but only flames in every corner of the place while the ward was filled with the sound of items cracking due to the fire. Scanning the area, he saw no one.
- He then turned his attention to the washroom and noticed the door was shut; thus, he immediately made his way there, only to be pinned by a beam that fell on his leg. Nevertheless, he didn’t moan or scream in pain but instead bore with the pain and pushed the burnt wood away. As his skin touched the fire, he could instantly sense a scorching smell from his flesh. Even so, he endured the pain and called out to the lady he loved. “Lauren… Lauren…” However, his voice was only met by silence. “Lauren, it’s me, Eddie. Stop hiding and come out now.”
- “Lauren—” Despite his heart-wrenching cry, his voice was met by a dead silence. Ethan broke down in sadness, lamenting over the fact that he might never hear her calling him Eddie ever again. He then lifted his head and scanned the ward once more but still saw no sign of her besides the fire.
