Meanwhile, amidst the thick, dark smoke, Ethan’s face felt like it was burning as he covered his nose and mouth with his sleeve. Upon getting into the ward, he saw no sign of Lauren, but only flames in every corner of the place while the ward was filled with the sound of items cracking due to the fire. Scanning the area, he saw no one.
• He then turned his attention to the washroom and noticed the door was shut; thus, he immediately made his way there, only to be pinned by a beam that fell on his leg. Nevertheless, he didn’t moan or scream in pain but instead bore with the pain and pushed the burnt wood away. As his skin touched the fire, he could instantly sense a scorching smell from his flesh. Even so, he endured the pain and called out to the lady he loved. “Lauren… Lauren…” However, his voice was only met by silence. “Lauren, it’s me, Eddie. Stop hiding and come out now.”
