Chapter 402 You're My Love, and Also My Curse
- The notebook was actually Lauren's handwritten diary that only consisted of a few pages. Since Ethan was the one who taught her how to write, her handwriting looked rather similar to his, although it seemed that she might have written them gentler than he would have. Staring at those words in the notebook, Ethan felt as if someone was plunging a blade through his chest and suffocating him with immense pain.
- It pains me even to read these words. I can’t imagine how Lauren felt back then when she wrote all this. Half an hour later, Ethan finally skimmed through the diary as there was nothing else more to read beyond the day Al died. Unlike her other diary logs in which she expressed her resentment, Lauren only stated a few words on the last page of her notebook on the same day Al left the world to mark the moment that she would renounce all her obsessions. Although they might be short, they sent chills down Ethan’s spine.
- Those few words in the diary read—‘I used to think we’d grow old together, but somehow it was all just a pipe dream. You’re my love and also my curse.’ Upon reading that, Ethan only grasped the notebook tightly while imagining the dismay that Lauren felt when she wrote them. Then, he was once again bothered by the pain that Lauren went through when her son died, as well as her helplessness when she failed to reach him. At the thought of that, Ethan only lowered his head and clenched his fists, which were soon covered in veins.
