Chapter 88
- Katherine drove to David's house, her thoughts racing. It had been months since she'd seen him at the Annual Business Party, and his sudden absence weighed heavily on her mind. She pulled into the driveway and knocked on the door, but there was no response. She tried his studio next, hoping he might be absorbed in his work, but again, she was met with silence.
- A sense of dread settled in her stomach as she knocked on his neighbors' doors. "Excuse me," she asked a kindly older woman who opened her door. "Have you seen David recently?"
- The woman frowned, shaking her head. "It's been months, dear. I thought he might have gone on a trip or something."
