• Lillian stepped out of the car, the fresh scent of the garden wafting over her as she took a deep breath. It was good to be home, even though the mansion felt like a nest of vipers. Katie came running up, her face lighting up with joy as she saw Lillian.
• "Aunt Lillian!" Katie cried, wrapping her arms around Lillian's legs.
• Lillian bent down, hugging Katie tightly. "Hi, sweetie. I've missed you," she said, forcing a smile despite the lingering pain from her recent ordeal.
