Chapter 44

• Mrs. Rojas was making her way to the garden, a favorite novel tucked under her arm, when she spotted something that made her heart skip a beat. Lillian was lying on the ground, a pool of blood forming next to her still body. The novel slipped from Mrs. Rojas' grasp as she rushed towards Lillian, her voice rising in a frantic shout.
• "Help! Somebody help! Lillian!" she screamed, dropping to her knees beside Lillian and trying to find any sign of consciousness.
• Sebastian, who had been in the kitchen, heard the desperate cries and sprinted towards the garden. His heart pounded with fear as he saw Mrs. Rojas and the motionless form of Lillian.
