- “You knew?” My voice shakes with disbelief as I stare at Kemi, the words tumbling out before I can stop them. My heart is hammering in my chest, every instinct telling me that something isn’t right. Something I should’ve known all along.
- Kemi smiles, but it’s the kind of smile that feels cold, calculated. “Of course I knew. I’m not stupid, Funmi.” She steps closer, her presence dominating the room, her eyes gleaming with a mixture of superiority and something darker—something far more sinister.
- I take a step back, trying to steady myself. “You’ve been manipulating me, haven’t you? From the beginning. You’ve been pulling the strings behind the scenes, making sure I stay right where you want me.”
