• I couldn’t breathe. Kemi’s words hung in the air, heavy and suffocating. I stared at her, trying to process what she’d just said. “What... did you just ask me?”
• Kemi leaned back in her chair, her posture relaxed, but there was something in her eyes—a glint that chilled me to the bone. “You heard me, Funmi. I want you to be my surrogate.”
