Chapter 300

  • “Ace!” I heard Lily’s voice call out, and I looked down in her direction. She was standing right in the large doorway of the huge entrance door, long and delicate blonde hair flying in the breeze in rhythm with her small white dress which flowed around her slender upper thighs. A pretty smile was spread on her face as her pale blue eyes squinted at me. “Will you just stand there all day? Come on in!”
  • With my hands buried in my pockets, I turned and sauntered towards her. When I got close enough, she let go of the door and threw her arms around me, pressing her body flush against mine. Her face pressed against my chest as she squeezed, sighing softly. I was still, staring down at the top of her blonde head silently.
  • A moment later, she muttered, “I missed you. I know things were awful for the family, but why would you disappear for months without staying in contact with anyone?” She moved her head so she looked up at me with those big blue innocent eyes. “Why would you let yourself deal with pain all alone?”
