• I turned away to move over to large bar spanning the wall, grabbing a glistening bottle and a glass. I scooped a couple of ice cubes from the dark freezer nearby, placing them into the glass before pouring the drink in. I could feel Leilani’s gaze following my every movement, even as I raised the glass to my lips and took a long sip of the drink, welcoming the soothing burn down my throat.
• “Adonis. You seem tensed.” I heard her say all of a sudden and I paused. I looked back at her, an eyebrow arched. She continued, “The only time I remember you being exactly like this…is back at your bachelor pad. That night.”
