• I walked to school bearing in mind that Mike might have a crush on Bianca. I tried as much as possible to get it off my mind, but the evidence of his love for Bianca was lingering on his face. I had the urge to confront him when the time came but then wasn’t a good time. Helen was still on my mind, although the love I had for her was gradually waxing cold.
• She stood beside her locker alone, unlike other times when she had a couple of friends beside her whom she laughed with and cheered along to.
